MLK JR Outpatient Center- Senior Physician
- Primary Preventive Care in primary care:
-
- Complete all screening assessment, diagnostic evaluations, routine vaccinations, and annual physical examinations
- Complete expected diagnostic screening assessments for common chronic diseases including hypertension, heart disease, diabetes, cervical and breast cancer, osteoporosis, and prostate cancer
- Provide evaluation and treatment for urgent conditions as they arise, including viral infections, minor injuries, joint complaints, rashes, gastrointestinal complaints
- Provide routine treatment for the most basic behavioral health conditions including depression, anxiety, and grief
- Administrative tasks related to direct patient care, including paperwork, review of labs and diagnostic testing, and completion of documentation
Supervisory and Leadership Responsibilities:
- HR supervision, including time and attendance and performance evaluation for all direct reports
- Budgeting and contract management for all non-county clinical workforce members hired to provide medical specialty care
- Prepares and leads monthly staff meetings for medical specialties
- Serves as the hiring manager for any clinical vacancies in medical specialties
- Oversees budget for overtime / equipment purchases / contracted services
- Serves as Patient Safety Officer and chairs a monthly meeting, collaborates with Facility Safety Officer
- Develop and maintain efficient clinic schedules in Medical Specialty Care and proxy systems.
- Collaborate with local PAC and SC leadership to design provider templates aligned with DHS standards.
- Monitor precision scheduling for medical specialties, troubleshoot and implement corrective measures as needed
- Monitor and assign and/or redistribute eConsult specialty reviewer duties
- Monitor patient experience, quality, and other related measures through team-based meetings and continuous improvement efforts to ensure a high performing Specialty Care practice.
- Ensure teams are adherent to policies, procedures, and clinical guidelines related to specialty care.
- In collaboration with other physician leaders (including Primary Care/UC Lead), coordinates transitions of care between specialty care and primary care, UC/ED and hospitals.

- Chairs MLK Medical Specialty Quality Meeting
- Attends Amb Care Network Specialty Care Director Meeting
- Attends King Leadership Meeting
- Lead for QIP efforts at MLK OPC
- Participates in Patient Engagement Committee
- Lead for MLK Virtual Health Program
- MLK Covid / Flu team with goal to improve participation of specialty clinics
- Medical Degree from an accredited medical school
- Residency in Family Medicine or Internal Medicine
- Post-graduate clinical experience in Internal Medicine or Family Medicine preferred
- Board Certification from appropriate agency based on residency completed.
- California State Physician and Surgeon’s Certificate authorized by the Board of Medical Examiners of the State of California
- DEA license
- BLS
- A valid California Class C Driver License or the ability to utilize an alternative method of transportation when needed to carry out job-related essential functions.
- Physician and Surgeon California Medical License
LANGUAGE SKILLS:
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or other employees.
