High Desert Health Center Groups is seeking a full-time internal medicine or family medicine physician for

its South Valley Health Center – Adult Primary Care Clinic based in Palmdale, California, to provide primary

care to our diverse population. The candidate will have a commitment to medically underserved

populations and a desire to achieve outstanding quality, efficiency, and patient experience.

Responsibilities include but not limited to the following:

• Provides and develops acute, chronic, and preventive care and education to adults.

• Obtains and performs thorough and precise histories and physical examinations on patients

at a frequency determined to be appropriate, by service.

• Performs thorough and precise focused exams, as clinically indicated.

• Performs approved clinic procedures, for which he/she has current privileges, with skill and expertise.

• Provides appropriate patient and family education regarding the patient’s

diagnosis, treatment, diet, medical equipment, and additional instructions as indicated.

• Follows national and/or local guidelines in practicing preventive medicine, as appropriate.

• Recognizes the importance of psychosocial / behavioral medicine in the care of patients.

Treats such conditions or refers appropriately.

• Maintains patient privacy and confidentiality when using the medical record.

• Orders tests/labs judiciously and as clinically indicated. Reviews and signs all test results in a

timely manner and takes appropriate action.

• Appropriately refers patients for emergency care or admissions as clinically appropriate.

Minimum Requirements:

• Graduate from an ACGME-accredited Internal Medicine, Family Medicine, or Medicine-Pediatrics residency program

• Board Certified or Board Eligible in Internal Medicine, Family Medicine, or Medicine-Pediatrics

• Active California state medical license

Desirable Qualifications:

• Experience in providing primary care to Adult Patients

• Computer Literacy and proficient in using an electronic medical record system. DHS utilizes Oracle Cerner Millennium

• Excellent judgment and problem-solving skills and ability to work well in teams

• Ability to collaborate with other providers, nursing staff and other clinic staff to ensure a pleasant

and productive work environment and efficient flow of patients through the clinic

• Ability to communicate with patient families, care providers, and co-workers

• Ability to maintain, organize, analyze, and prioritize multiple assignments simultaneously

• Flexible and adaptable to change and energetic

• Primary Care Differential: Within 30 days of pensionability determination, full-time DHS

Physicians responsible for providing (1.0 FTE) direct patient care in primary care for their panel

(i.e., 8 scheduled and 2 unscheduled half-day sessions of primary care work/panel case

management duties per week) shall receive 10% of the base salary

• Non-MegaFlex (NMF) Retention Bonus – $14,000: Annual bonus paid within 60 days of

pensionability determination and available to all permanent and full-time employees within this class

• Eligibility for Loan Forgiveness: Position may be eligible for loan forgiveness through certain state

• High Desert Health System Bonus: Eligible DHS physician working in a facility located within the

High Desert Health System shall receive a per occasion bonus of $57.00 per hour.Candidates must currently

1. Hold a permanent County of Los Angeles payroll title of Physician Specialist

to be considered for transfer

2. Reachable on a DHS certification list to be considered for a promotion OR

3. Be willing to submit new LA County employment application to become a new hire
