MLK OPC is in the heart of SPA 6 in South Los Angeles and is part of DHS’s Ambulatory Care Network (ACN). Our patients are mostly African-American and Latino/a/x, many with Spanish as a preferred language. As the largest facility within the ACN, MLK OPC is a high-volume, multispecialty outpatient center, providing more than 150,000 visits annually. In addition to clinical care, MLK OPC maintains a focus on continuous quality improvement, social determinants of health, community partnerships, and health equity.

MLK OPC is currently recruiting a podiatrist to provide clinic visits, office-based procedures, and operative care in the MLK Ambulatory Surgery Center

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

• Diagnose conditions pertaining to the foot, ankle and other related structures using medical histories, physical examination, radiographic imaging, and laboratory testing.

• Develop comprehensive treatment plans, up to and including incorporation of ancillary modalities such as rehabilitation services and other medical specialties.

• Performs foot, ankle, and related structure surgeries with the scope of practice.

• Consults with inter-professional care teams as needed to ensure comprehensive management.

• Completes all relevant clinical documentation, including disability forms and other related patient-care documentation.

• Perform in-office procedures including biopsy, nail avulsions, tendon sheath injections, and joint injections.

• Conducts training or assists in the training of residents, medical students, and other trainees as requested, including the provision of formal and informal training sessions.

• Provide eConsult review with primary care providers to dialog about triage requests to provide recommendations and plan for co-management.

• Participate in DHS podiatry work group meetings.

• Participate in quality improvement activities.

• Supports administrative tasks such as equipment maintenance, ordering of supplies, and requesting any rental or service agreements as needed.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

• Degree of Doctor of Podiatric Medicine conferred by a podiatric medical school accredited by the Council on Podiatric Medical Education and approved by the Medical Board of California’s Board of Podiatric Medicine

• Successful completion of a post-graduate podiatric medical and surgical training program approved by the Council on Podiatric Medical EducationLICENSE:

• A current, unrestricted California State license to practice the full scope of podiatric medicine as issued by the California State Board of Podiatric Medicine of the California Medical Board.

REPORTING:

The podiatrist reports to the MLK Senior Physician for surgical services.

LOCATION:

MLK OPC is located at 1670 E. 120th street LA, CA 90059. The center is located in the unincorporated city of Willowbrook. It is also home to the Charles R. Drew University of Medicine and Science. The population of the area is estimated at 35,983 residents. It has a major Metro Rail Station, which serves many bus routes by LA Metro. The area has many parks, including Enterprise County Park and Athens Park.
