Physician Specialist – OBGYN
Position Openings: Ambulatory Care Network has three full-time Obstetrics and Gynecologist openings located at Long Beach Comprehensive Health Center, Hubert H. Humphrey Comprehensive Health Center, and High Desert Regional Health Center, all located in Los Angeles County.
Job Description: This position is a full-time clinical position that will manage full-scope obstetrical and gynecological patients. Candidates should have experience with prenatal care, surgical consultations, and office-based procedures such as colposcopy, hysteroscopy, and endometrial biopsies. The position will primarily involve outpatient care, with opportunities for surgeries in the Ambulatory Surgical Centers (ASCs) as well inpatient and clinical coverage at one of our three tertiary centers. This includes coverage of Labor and Delivery, participation in the overnight call pool, OR coverage and resident/medical student teaching. Desirable qualifications include experience and interest in teaching; experience supervising or leading clinical teams, including Advanced Practice Providers; Spanish-language fluency; experience working in safety net health systems.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Clinical:
- Patient Care: Provide comprehensive obstetric and gynecological care. Diagnose and treat a wide range of conditions affecting reproductive health, with referrals to tertiary centers when appropriate, ensuring patient care is both proactive and responsive.
- Patient Advocacy: Advocate for patient needs and preferences, ensuring a patient-centered approach to care and decision-making, and promoting health equity within the community.
Administrative:
- Leadership in Clinical Activities: Actively leads and participates in multi-disciplinary team meetings to enhance patient care and coordination. This includes nursing, Community Health Workers, and Social Workers, among others.
- Communication with Leadership: Effectively communicates team issues or needs to leadership to ensure continuous improvement and resource allocation.
- Population Health: Review system and facility level data to identify areas of opportunity to enhance delivery of care and work to promote health equity.
- Performance and Quality Improvement: Engages in performance and quality improvement activities aimed at achieving the mission and strategic goals of DHS by leading quality improvement activities to achieve industry standards in patient satisfaction and clinical care outcomes.
Requirements:
- Medical degree from an accredited institution.
- Board eligible/certified in Obstetrics and Gynecology.
- Valid California medical license.
- Proven experience in a clinical setting, preferably within a community health setting.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- Commitment to quality improvement and patient-centered care.
Other Desired Qualifications:
- Experience in multi-disciplinary team collaboration.
- Familiarity with performance/quality improvement methodologies.
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to handle patient complaints effectively.
Job Appointment Options:
- To be considered as a lateral transfer, candidates must be a current permanent county employee who holds the payroll title of Physician Specialist.
- To be considered as a new hire, candidates must be reachable on the DHS certification list.
