Physician Specialist, Internal Medicine – Board Certified in Allergy and Immunology
Martin Luther King, Jr. Outpatient Center and the Los Angeles County Health Services
Ambulatory Care Network (ACN) is seeking a highly qualified and passionate Internal Medicine
physician with board certification in Allergy and Immunology to provide direct patient care.
Key Clinical Responsibilities:
Direct patient care of allergy and immunology conditions:
Conduct diagnostic evaluations to identify and treat allergic and immunologic
conditions such as anaphylaxis, angioedema, persistent asthma, and medication
allergy
Perform required tests, including prick tests
Establish therapies, develop treatment plans, and educate patients based on
best practices
Prescribe medications, including antihistamines and antibiotics
Monitor and track patient’s therapeutic treatment plans
Participate in vaccination goals, including pneumococcal and influenza
vaccination
Administrative duties related to direct patient care:
Establish and implement an allergy service at MLKOPC for in-person care and
DHS enterprise accessibility via telehealth
Evaluate and interpret laboratory and diagnostic reports
Complete documentation and paperwork for patients as needed
Direct support nursing and CMA team to complete post-visit and pre-visit
planning to maximize time spent in the clinical encounter
Provide direct communication with patients by telephone or email as appropriate
Coordinate care for individual patients with partnering organizations both within
DHS and with the MLK Community Hospital
Participate in Quality Improvement activities
Serve as eConsult Allergy Specialty Reviewer to provide guidance to providers
seeking allergy and immunological specialized expertise and to appoint patients
in a prioritized manner to available appointments

This is a direct patient care position.

This is a non-supervisory position.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Medical Degree from an accredited medical school
Successful completion of residency in Internal Medicine
TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE:
Post-graduate clinical experience in allergy and immunology
Board Certification from an appropriate agency based on residency with allergy and
immunology
LICENSE:
An active, unrestricted Physicians and Surgeons medical license issued by the State of California
A valid California Class C Driver License or the ability to utilize an alternative method of
transportation when needed to carry out job-related essential functions
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or other employees.
