Vascular Surgeon – Harbor UCLA Medical Center
The Division of Vascular and Endovascular Surgery at Harbor-UCLA Medical Center is seeking applications from board-eligible or board-certified Vascular Surgeons at the assistant professor/associate professor level to join its full-time faculty.
Successful applicants will have a strong interest in clinical and/or outcomes research and will have completed training in vascular and endovascular surgery and be Board-eligible/certified. Responsibilities would include the full spectrum of vascular and endovascular surgery. We practice in a state-of-art Hybrid operating room, have an active IDE for branched and fenestrated aortic stent grafting, and have an integrated vascular surgery residency and a vascular surgery fellowship. In addition to vascular surgery trainees, faculty are involved in the education and training of Harbor-UCLA general surgery residents and medical students from the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA.
Harbor-UCLA Medical Center a 553-bed hospital tertiary referral county hospital with a Level 1 Trauma center located in Torrance, CA. A new hospital building and campus redesign has begun which will include a second Hybrid OR. The medical center is a major teaching affiliate of the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA and the Charles R. Drew University of Medicine and Science, and sponsors 34 ACGME accredited residency and fellowship programs.
The medical center campus includes the Lundquist Institute, which has over 400 researchers, 150 federal grants (NIH and DoD), 200 patents, and has led to the creation 11 companies in the past 10 years. There is significant opportunity to collaborate with established researchers, coordinate clinical trials, or to pursue unique research interests at both the Lundquist Institute and at the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA campus.
The Division of Vascular Surgery is currently comprised of 4 full-time vascular surgeons. A full academic appointment at the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA will be supported commensurate with the applicant’s credentials.
Strong consideration will be given to candidates with demonstrated leadership, a strong history of scholarly research, and evidence of excellence in surgical education. A recommendation for an academic appointment to the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA at the assistant or associate professor level will be made, commensurate with the candidate’s qualifications and experience.
