Physician Specialist – Anesthesiology

LOCATION: Olive View-UCLA Medical Center, 14445 Olive View Drive, Sylmar, CA 91342  

GENERAL SUMMARY: The Department of Anesthesiology and Perioperative Medicine is seeking a Physician Specialist in Anesthesiology at Olive View-UCLA Medical Center (OVMC), a Los Angeles County facility and major teaching hospital for the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA. OVMC is dedicated to caring for a medically underserved community and patients with limited access to healthcare. Candidates must be board-certified or board-eligible in Anesthesiology, demonstrate excellent clinical and interpersonal skills, have a commitment to education, and contribute to an academic, energetic, and creative multidisciplinary faculty at Olive View-UCLA Medical Center. The appropriate candidate will be eligible for a professorial rank, commensurate with experience and previous appointments, in the Health Sciences series at David Geffen School of Medicine, University of California, Los Angeles. 

JOB DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES: 

• Provide excellent intra-operative and postoperative general, regional, ambulatory, and obstetrical anesthetic care in operating room and non-operating room locations  

• Conduct thorough in-person and tele-visit preoperative evaluations  

• Work with multidisciplinary teams to optimize patients for surgery 

• Participate in the general and obstetrical call schedule 

• Provide excellent teaching of medical students and residents rotating through OVMC  

• Participate in quality improvement, peer review, and regular weekly didactic programs 

• Participate in hospital and DHS committees at the discretion of the Chair 

• Provide supervision of advanced practice providers 

• Adhere to DHS, OVMC, UCLA, and departmental policies and procedures and code of conduct 

• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams  

• Engage in academically creative activities that benefit DHS patients

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: 

• Graduate of an accredited School of Medicine or Osteopathy 

• Completion of an ACGME-accredited residency program in anesthesiology 

• Board-certified or board-eligible as determined by the American Board of Anesthesiology 

• California Medical License 

• Strong commitment to education with an academic background suitable for faculty appointment at the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA 

• Excellent clinical, teaching, and interpersonal skills
