Associate Medical Director (SLAHCG)

South Los Angeles Health Center Group (SLAHCG) is seeking a physician to serve as Associate Medical Director (DHS item classification: Senior Physician). The Associate Medical Director works closely with the Director/Medical Director to oversee all clinical operations at Hubert H. Humphrey Comprehensive Health Center (HHCHC) and Bell Health Center.
The Associate Medical Director will serve as the Primary Care Lead for SLAHCG. Between the two facilities, SLAHCG provides primary care for nearly 45,000 empaneled patients. There are 22 Patient-Centered Medical Home (PCMH) teams—15 adult primary care, 2 HIV Primary Care, and 3 pediatric primary care teams at Humphrey, and 2 adult primary care teams at Bell.
In addition to a large primary care service, Humphrey also offers specialty care and urgent care services. Humphrey’s specialty care services include women’s health (OB/GYN), optometry/ ophthalmology, physical therapy, endocrinology/ diabetes, dermatology, dentistry, nutrition, clinical pharmacy, behavioral health, and substance use disorder treatment. Ancillary services at Humphrey include laboratory, radiology, and pharmacy. Bell Health Center’s services are limited to adult primary care. SLAHCG’s patients are predominantly covered by Medi-Cal and are demographically reflective of the communities in South and Southeast Los Angeles.
The Associate Medical Director will directly supervise several staff, including physician service chiefs and administrative support staff, and. This position represents SLAHCG on several Ambulatory Care Network or Department of Health Services workgroups. This role will also oversee Humphrey’s training partnerships with local academic institutions. The position is a full-time on-site role, with administrative and clinical duties primarily based at Humphrey.
Qualifications:
The ideal candidate will have experience in outpatient clinical leadership– particularly in primary care– and will also understand key aspects of cross-service clinical integration. The candidate should also have direct supervisory experience, demonstrated success in leading multidisciplinary teams, and a strong understanding of quality improvement.
Board Certification in Family Medicine or Internal Medicine is preferred.

Hubert H. Humphrey Comprehensive Health Center (HHCHC) is located at 5850 S. Main St. Los Angeles, CA 90003. Its parking lot is located on the south side of the center with entrances on Main St. and Woodlawn Ave. It was founded in April 26, 1976 and named in honor of Hubert H. Humphrey, who served as Vice Presidents of the United States under President Lyndon B. The facility is one of six comprehensive health centers operated by Los Angeles County. HHCHC serves patients in South Los Angeles and surrounding areas. Its focus is to deliver quality care and provides a range of primary, specialty and urgent care services in a patient centered model.
Bell Health Center is located at 6901 Atlantic Ave. Bell, CA 90201. The center provides compassionate, high-quality service to patients in the Southeast Los Angeles cities and neighborhoods—Bell, Huntington Park, Cudahy, Bell Gardens, Maywood, and more.
