Associate Chief Medical Officer, Harbor-UCLA Medical Center
Los Angeles County Harbor-UCLA Medical Center (HUMC) invites applications for the position of Associate Chief Medical Officer (ACMO).
Reporting to the HUMC Chief Executive Officer/Chief Medical Officer, the ACMO will provide vision, leadership, and strategic direction to achieve HUMC’s clinical care mission within a large urban academic safety-net hospital that is part of LA County Health Services, an integrated health system. The ACMO will be directly responsible for the administration, operational management, and quality of care delivered by the 12 clinical departments at HUMC. The ACMO will directly supervise each of the Clinical Department Chairs, the Associate Medical Director of Inpatient Services, and the Associate Medical Director of Ambulatory Care Services. The ACMO will join HUMC’s Chief Nursing Officer, Chief Operating Officer, and CEO/CMO as a key member of the hospital and health system’s leadership team.
Candidates must have an outstanding track record as a leader, manager, and innovator in clinical care delivery and integration. Additional requirements include commitment to our vulnerable patient population, eligibility for California medical licensure, as well as a proven ability to successfully collaborate across disciplines, engineer culture change, and work effectively within a large and complex health delivery system. The ACMO will be expected to assist Clinical Departments in recruiting and mentoring outstanding faculty and trainee physicians, identifying and resolving operational issues that impact access, quality, and patient experience, and facilitating robust integration and synergy of clinical programs within HUMC and across sister LA County Health Services facilities.
Located in the beautiful South Bay area of Los Angeles, HUMC enjoys a longstanding partnership with The Lundquist Institute for Biomedical Innovation on campus in addition to a strong affiliation with UCLA-David Geffen School of Medicine. All 12 of the clinical departments have high quality residency programs, and many offer fellowships.
